LIFE DIRECTIONS RETREAT
(as conducted in the Joliet Diocese)

o Are You Wondering Where Your Life is Heading?

o Do You Want to Make Good Decisions for Life?

o Are You Ready for a Retreat - A Time for You and God?

If you answered "Yes" to these questions then you may be ready for a Life Directions Retreat. This weekend retreat is an opportunity to explore your own journey and call to service. Join a group of other young, single, Catholic men and women for a weekend of presentations, discussions, prayer, and dialogue to find out more about the life God calls you to live. Emmaus Walks:

Cards with a director’s name, time, and meeting place will be available on an Emmaus Walk Table in the conference room.

Participants will be asked to take a card from the table (no signing up, arranging schedules, etc…) and simply meet with the person as indicated. They will be encouraged to tell their "companion" who they will be meeting with so that there are no complete surprises.

Publicity includes:

(1) Mailing to youth ministers (brochures) - seven weeks prior

(2) Mailing to priests (brochures and bulletin articles) six weeks prior

(3) Press release to diocesan newspaper

(4) Ads in diocesan newspaper - 2 issues

(5) Direct mailing of brochures to about 200+ - six weeks prior

(6) Posting on Vocations Website - year round

(7) Ask campus ministry departments to send to possible retreatants

Other:

(1) Each vocation director plans his/her own prayer services. Select music from common music source.

(2) Retreat booklets are prepared for the weekend. Set deadline date so there is sufficient time to prepare booklet.

(3) Retreatants are screened by phone or in person so that only "healthy" persons participate in the retreat.

(4) Follow-up letter includes information on local travel, list of things to bring, and an invitation to bring music instruments if they want.

(5) Serrans are responsible for registration at the retreat center and for helping to make the retreat run smoothly with background work and some setup. They will also purchase the food for socials and host the pizza party and socials. They are welcome to sit in on the presentations and join us for the prayer times.
