"The harvest is plenty, but laborers are few,
beg the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers."

WELCOME to the JAVA Home Page

The Joliet Area Vocation Association (JAVA) is a group of vocation ministers who are committed to the cause of priestly and religious vocations within the Diocese of Joliet.

All vocation ministers in the area are most welcome to participate in JAVA to the extent their interests and schedules permit.  In most things JAVA operates as a committee of the whole, with different events being planned by small groups of members.  There is no chairperson for JAVA.  We share the responsibility of chairing meetings and acting as secretary.  There are no dues for our organization.  The diocesan vocation office acts as the central location for scheduling events and coordinating materials.

Fundamentally, JAVA is meant to be a support and resource for those of us who minister as vocation directors.

Feel free to contact Father Burke Masters with any questions or concerns.

JAVA exists:

  •  To provide a network of support for persons engaged in vocation ministry within the Joliet Diocese.

  • To develop and implement programs that promote all church vocations, with an emphasis on religious life and priesthood.

  • To help young adults discern possible vocations to spiritual leadership, religious life, and priesthood.

  • To work with religious communities for the recruitment of new members.

  • To help local parishes and staffs in encouraging religious and priestly vocations.

  • To foster vocations within a multi-cultural Church.
